We take our place in society and on this planet seriously and want to do more to help.

When we moved to Nether Edge in 2013 being an active part of the community was important to me so we were involved in setting up the annual Nether Edge Festival.

I heard about this bid that Nicola of Zeds had started and wanted to be involved. Too many of the community initiatives rely completely on the good will of a few grafters, namely Nether Edge Neighborhood Group (NENG).

This seemed like a perfect way to bring the businesses, community and nature together which is essentially what we believe Nether Edge Village is all about.

Community Spirit | Independent Edge is the slogan our copy writer Ash came up with and it’s perfect.

There’s no other place like Nether Edge Village and I hope more people can experience its beauty and quirks and am so proud to be a small part of it.” – Steven Clinical Director Bannerdale Osteopaths

Steven jumped through enough hoops with Sheffield City Council to get access to a grant from their Economic Recovery Fund. The criteria were quite strict but the results are something we’re really proud of!

This is Nether Edge Village:

  • 20 street trees in and around Nether Edge Village which with the help of Nether Edge and Sharrow Sustainable Transformation (NESST) and particularly Paul Selby are part of a movement towards replanting the ones felled a few years ago and showing that the right kind of trees are always an asset to a community.

  • 4 permanent community planters around the cross roads of Nether Edge Village, adding to the ones funded by Nether Edge Neighbourhood Group (NENG). These are initially looked after by Grow a Sheffield based charity who’s mission is ‘Inspiring hope and unlocking potential in young people through nature’ then will be adopted by the Nether Edge Village community.

  • Funding for places on Grow’s 8 week program of mentoring Walk&Talk for people in Nether Edge Village between the ages of 16-24 that need a bit of support.

  • Installation of community signs with history and information about the area thanks to Nether Edge History Group

  • Help for the local businesses and community by creating a vibrant brand – Nether Edge Village by the amazing Leanne Mallinshaw something we can all unite under showing that we are stronger together and need businesses, community and nature to thrive.

  • Lamp post banners to create a buzz around Nether Edge Village.
