A series of crosswords have appeared in past issues of 'EDGE'. Those by 'Salmon' are Cryptic crosswords and somewhat more difficult than the Quick ones of 'Tuna'. In 2001 'Alfie' appeared on the scene with an alphabetical crossword for Christmas '01 and a second one later for Christmas '04. He plans a further convoluted cryptic for Christmas '05. There are also, solely for online members, Special Alfie 1, Special Alfie 2, Special Alfie 3 and Special Alfie 6 which have been added between 2002 and 2005. Alfie has also devised two more — Special Alfie no.4 and Special Alfie no.5 — for those of you with a seriously twisted turn of mind. Describing himself as "very much in John West's shadow (hence 'sprat')", a new compiler started the 'Sprat' crossword series in April 2007.
