The 32nd Annual General Meeting was held at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 10th May 2005, at the Salvation Army Citadel, Psalter Lane.
The meeting was attended by 42 members, together with two officers from the police Community Service. One of these, Darren Hill, spoke to us about the work of CS officers and their invaluable service in providing a police presence on Nether Edge streets. This was followed by brief reports by the Chairman (Richard Ward) and Secretary (Michael Miller) who was kind enough to mention the valuable function supplied by this website. Alan Hartland then presented the accounts and described the membership situation (798 households, a small improvement on last year). The reports and the accounts were accepted by the meeting. Peter Frost, chairman of the Planning Subcommittee for a several years, presented his report of recent planning developments; and this was followed by brief reports from Howard Trott (the new Wildlife Watch group) and Dominic Watts (Traffic Working Party). After accepting all these reports the meeting then witnessed the pleasing presentation of small tokens of appreciation to Peter Frost and Alan Hartland for services to NENG beyond the call of duty over many years.
One of the significant 'housekeeping' tasks of the evening was the election of the Officers and of the new General Committee to serve until May 2006. (Click on Past officers.) Richard Ward made it clear that he would only hold office for the coming year.
The meeting concluded, with general thanks to all who work for NENG, shortly after 9 pm.
