AGM 2002

The 29th Annual General Meeting was held on Thursday 16th May 2002, at Shirley House, St Andrews Psalter Lane Church. The meeting was attended by 24 members, with Joan Flett in the chair. What follows is a brief and unofficial report of the proceedings:-

Reports and Accounts

The meeting received verbal reports from the Hon. Secretary and Membership Secretary, together with the written reports, previously published in the May/June issue of 'EDGE', from the Chairman and Hon. Treasurer; and also endorsed the audited Accounts (also published in 'EDGE'). The annual subscription remained unaltered at £3.00, £1.50 concession, per member. The Auditor, Nigel Draper, was re-appointed.

Luncheon Club
Joan Flett reported that there were still vacancies for housebound members. She thanked all those — cooks and drivers — who volunteered their services to make the Club possible, especially commending the work of Sue Bolger in coordinating the driver network. She asked for further volunteer drivers.

Planning Subcommittee
Philip Hulley referred to the many and various planning applications that had been considered over the past year by his subcommittee. He reported that Sheffield City Council would in future be listing all current applications on the Council website. He welcomed a suggestion that current local applications be listed on this (Nether Edge) site.

  2. Philip Hulley (Planning Subcommittee, previously ex-officio)
  3. Liz Friend (Playgroup)

Marian Tylecote was co-opted to represent Chelsea Park and wildlife issues.

These changes are replicated under Past Officers on our website. During final business the following issue was raised:-

Traffic in Nether Edge
One member reported that tentative proposals to reduce peak hour traffic down Nether Edge Road etc had been discussed informally with Council members by the Less Traffic Group, so far without definite outcome. The meeting discussed illegal parking, especially on footpaths, and voiced the suggestion that a paid-permit scheme might be introduced, with the income possibly helping to fund monitoring by the Council. NENG was asked also to consider limited-time parking at the Nether Edge terminus.

The meeting closed at 8.50 pm.
