NEWW Outdoor Events Programme 2008
The summer outdoor events are often, though not always, on a Sunday morning and are open to paid - up members of NEWW. Anyone who is not already a member is welcome to participate in an event provided they join the Wildlife Watch (£3 for a full year) on or before the day.

Bird Walk in the Moss Valley Woods
Sunday 18 May 2008
A full morning walk starting from Coal Aston.
Led by Jonathon Webster of Moss Valley Wildlife Group.
At this time the woods should be full of bluebells as well as birds

Wild Flower walk in Millers Dale
Sunday 29 June 2008
A morning walk led by Steve Price of Derbyshire Wildlife Trust.
This is high season for orchids. We will explore the limestone ecology
and hope to find some scarce species.

Moth Evening in Chelsea Park, Nether Edge
Friday 25 July 2008 (8.30 – 10.00 pm)
Led by Frank Botterill, Moth Recorder for the Sorby Natural
History Society. Frank will set up light traps under the trees and
help us to identify some of the species that inhabit our local area.

Fungi Walk in Ecclesall Woods

A morning walk led by mycologist Caroline Hobart.
Last year on a similar walk with Caroline in Whirlow, despite
it being a very poor year for fungi, we found many specimens
and learned a great deal about their life cycles and
relationship to other plants.
